The Holy Spirit as Fire
Sermon Text: Acts 2: 3-4
Scripture Reading: Isaiah: 4: 2-4, Acts 2: 1-4
Many of us love an open fireplace. There is therapy in the flickering light, crackling fire, the smell of aromatic wood burning, and heat from the cheerful flame. Many of us have fireplaces in which we have great experiences. But God also has His fireplaces: The Burning Bush, The Brazen Altar of the Tabernacle, Mount Carmel, and His Pentecost People are just a few of God's fireplaces. The only fireplaces He has today in all the world are the hearts of His people. The Holy Spirit appeared like a fire. Hebrews 12:29 declares our God is a consuming fire. Isiah spoke of the spirit of burning in Isaiah 4:4. We are to be filled with the spirit. The fire of the Holy Spirit is to burn in the fireplaces of our own hearts. He is all that fire is and he does all that fire does.
